The Sound of Colours – A Fun & Interactive Musical Learning Experience for Children

On 20 June 2026 (Saturday), children will experience an exciting and colourful musical journey through “The Sound of Colours”, a specially designed interactive musicianship programme aimed at developing children’s musical foundation in a fun and engaging environment.

Unlike a traditional recital or classroom lesson, this programme encourages children to actively participate through movement, listening games, rhythm activities, creative expression, and teamwork. The event is carefully structured to help children strengthen important musical skills while enjoying the learning process together with friends.

Event Details

  • Date: 20 June 2026 (Saturday)

  • Time: 9:30am – 11:30am

  • Duration: 2 Hours

  • Target Age: 5 – 12 Years Old

  • Estimated Participants: Open to first 50 participants

Why Was This Programme Created?

Many children attend weekly instrumental lessons, but musicianship skills such as rhythm, listening, coordination, creativity, and self-expression also need to be developed through active experiences. “The Sound of Colours” was created to strengthen these essential musical foundations in a way that is interactive, enjoyable, and suitable for young learners.

Through five colourful activity stations, children explore different aspects of music learning:

  • Red – Rhythm: Develop steady tempo and coordination

  • Yellow – Melody: Improve pitch recognition and listening skills

  • Green – Control: Understand dynamics and tone production

  • Blue – Expression: Connect music with movement and expression

  • Purple – Thinking Skills: Develop self-correction abilities

Expected Outcomes of the Programme

At the end of the programme, children are expected to gain stronger confidence and awareness in music-making. The activities are designed not only to improve technical understanding, but also to encourage creativity, teamwork, and independent thinking.

Participants will be able to:

  • Maintain a steady beat confidently

  • Identify pitch direction more accurately

  • Understand musical dynamics and tone production

  • Perform with better musical expression

  • Develop self-correction and listening abilities

These skills are extremely important in helping children become more musical, expressive, and attentive learners in their future music studies.

Suitable Age Group: Why 5–12 Years Old?

This programme is specially designed for children aged 5 to 12 years old because this age range is one of the most important stages for musical and cognitive development.

Ages 5–7

Children at this stage learn best through movement, games, colours, and imagination. Interactive station activities help improve coordination, listening, concentration, and confidence while keeping learning enjoyable.

Ages 8–12

Older children begin to develop stronger analytical thinking and musical understanding. The programme encourages them to improve rhythm accuracy, expression, tone control, teamwork, and self-correction skills in a more structured way.

By combining fun activities with educational musical objectives, “The Sound of Colours” creates a balanced learning experience suitable for both beginners and children already taking music lessons.

More Than Just a Music Programme

“The Sound of Colours” is more than just learning notes and rhythms — it is an opportunity for children to explore creativity, build confidence, interact socially, and experience the joy of music in a supportive environment.

Through colourful stations, hands-on activities, and guided musical experiences, children will leave the programme with valuable musical skills, happy memories, and greater confidence in expressing themselves through music.
